Larry Osterman on Coding Style

Larry Osterman started a great discussion on coding style.

More and more, I'm seeing development teams taking this approach:
”The other way is to be somewhat more ad-hoc in coding style - typically each developer owns one or more components in the system, you let them develop those components with their own style, and trust that the final product will be harmonious. “

It's strange how far we've come since the early days of VB Classic.  I can remember being hammered by team-mates if I didn't follow their style.  I can remember handing out a modified version of the Naming Conventions (from Microsoft Consulting Services) once I had my own teams.  But, now with .NET, it truly is more like what Larry is describing above.
