Technical blogs with personal content

I was catching up on Dan Fernandez's blog today and one of the comments to this post said something like this (paraphrased): “Microsoft blogs should be all technical.  Stop wasting my time with this personal stuff.”

One of the things I really enjoy about many of the Microsoft blogs is that the people do get into personal topics.  One of my favorites is Mike Pope's blog.  He is a great writer, so pretty much anything he writes, I read.  Reading about his experiences learning how to scuba dive are interesting, mostly because it's not something I'll ever do. :-)  Cyrus' blog is always fun (example1, example2, example3).  Brad Abrams has another great blog that mixes personal “stuff“ with excellent technical content.

It's nice to know that the people responsible for Microsoft products aren't just code-monkeys that think about nothing else in life.  On top of that, it isn't like they have to blog.  They do it because they want to.

Of course, the blogs from Microsoft always have excellent technical content that has a way of making me feel like I should be doing something else. :-)
