Dayton-Cincinnati Code Camp: Waiting for the start

Note: instead of lugging my laptop around, I decided to take notes.  We're on the lunch break now, so I'm gonna type up my notes from the first couple of sessions.

8:30a-9a
I got downstairs around 8:20, signed in and picked up the free notepad/binder they were giving away.  I'm surprised they didn't give name tags to people...this, IMO, sucks because I'm sure there are a lot of people I'd know (from their blogs), but I have no way to know for sure.

They used PocketMod to print the schedule (great idea!).  It was funny to see people furiously folding them on a table around the corner from the sign-in.

I found room #1 (the “whiteboard” room).  The room filled up almost to capacity.  I was initially concerned about the size of the whiteboard, but once we got going, it wasn't really an issue (more on that later).

Dave had some issues getting the slides to show, but it ended up not being a big deal.

There was a guy in the room that drove down from Detroit, so I wasn't the only Michigander in the room.

Michael, ugggghhh. I know what you mean about the name tags, because I think I was sitting right behind you at the Media Center/XBox session! I hadn't caught up on my blog reading until just a few minutes ago and I saw all your posts about the Code Camp. I wish I hadn't gotten behind on by blog reading, then I would have known you were coming down. I would have liked to at least say "Hi".

I live less than 10 minutes away from the hotel where it was held, so it was a "no-brainer" for me to attend. I hope they have one of these at least a couple of times a year from here on out.

Sorry I missed you - hopefully I'll catch you at the next one.

Dan,

I was one row from the back, right next to the door. James Avery and Dave Donaldson were right in front of me. Were you playing the racing game before the session started?

I didn't realize you started blogging again or else I would have known you were going. :-) Seems like you took some time off last year. Anyway, I just re-added you to my RSS reader.

I heard rumors that the Toledo .NET users group is going to do a camp in the next few months...

Michael, I was sitting in the second row from the back on the other side of the aisle. Keep us (me) updated on the possible Toledo code camp!

I took a break for a while due to the job change, and getting used to not working from home (much less time to write), and a few other things here and there. But it looks like I'm used to the new schedule and I'm committed to posting more than ever.
