From Michelle Malkin: “The new, P.C.-ified Pledge of Allegiance

I think I’m gonna be sick. :-\

The original.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Ok, WTF is going on with this country?  So, these punk-ass students can’t handle saying “under God”?  Wow.  Ok, how about we revert to the pre-1954 pledge without “under God”?  Would that do it?  Probably not because I’m sure they’d bitch and moan about saying the “United States”.

Like most of my U.S. readers, I grew up saying the Pledge — 13 years of public education.  13 years of saying the Pledge.  13 years of never once seeing anything wrong with it.  13 years of thinking it’d ever change.

As I’ve said many times on my own (derelict) site; love my country, hate the people in it. It makes my stomach turn to think that so many men and women have given their lives to defend these idiots right to be idiots. Don’t like the pledge or the government here in the United States? Feel free to exercise your constitutional right to re-locate to any of the other 190+ countries out there. What’s that? They don’t allow you to speak out like idiots? Then Allow me to exercise my constitutional right to free speech to tell these Colorado kids to SHUT THE FU*K UP!!!

Is it just me or does it seem like the population of idiots is growing at an increased rate?

It’s amazing how much things have changed just in the last 20 years or so? I wonder what would happen to kids these days if they posted a “Go Bush” sign over their locker like we did back in the day. ;-)

But why pledge allegiance to the flag every day?

I don’t pledge by allegiance to my wife and child or even my Christian God every day! I do it by action.

I pledge allegiance to logic, wisdom and god and I pray that the flag falls under one of those things. But if “the flag” (this nation) is stupid, evil, and wrong. Then it does not have my allegiance.

;-) Maybe my problem is that I don’t see this nation as stupid, evil and wrong.

Look, these kids can deal with taking 30 seconds out of their day to show a little respect to a long-standing tradition in this country.

If these kids have such a problem with the “under God” part of the pledge, perhaps they should empty their pockets of all the U.S. currency they have. :-)

Anyway, I appreciate your thoughts (and your blog post on this subject) Jay.

Or we could simply use the same kind of oath that the armed forces do – protecting the Constitution from all threats, foreign or domestic.

Separation of church and state, you know.

Jefferson was not terribly thrilled to have any mention of God on currency or in legislation. One of the few reasons he’s my favorite founding father.

Check out this blip on taking “Under God” out of the pledge. It starts off saying they are all for taking it out but keep reading! Good Stuff!
